Early in 1996, various alumni from all classes gathered to discuss the upcoming
centennial of Colville High School. Those in attendance scheduled June 20, 21 and 22 of
1997 to host this momentous occasion. Alumni from the various classes mobilized to gather
the names and address from their respective classes and invitations were sent out to all.
The planning process included commemorative
sweatshirts, caps, and bricks to be sold
with the alumni's name and graduation
date to be installed on the Centennial
Wall. Other committees worked the selection
of distinguished alumni and an assembly
to honor them. Memberships were also sold
at the event to help defray expenses.
A dance was also scheduled to round out
the occasion.
The centennial held in June of 1997 was considered a resounding success. Over 1200 alumni participated
in the three day celebration. Proceeds from the brick sales, clothing items and memberships totaled close
to $12,000 after all expenses were paid.
In the fall of 1997, a meeting was held and it was decided the Colville High School Alumni Association would
become it's own entity complete with by-laws, officers and a separate bank account to be responsible for their
own monies.
